West End made the trip to Penygroes to play KRUF as they looked to retain the only Division 2 100% record.
The game kicked off and it was KRUF who looked in better spirit as they knocked the ball around with confidence. West End couldnt seem to keep the ball and were at fault for numerous errors in posession. With a new formation being tried out of 3-5-2 West End seemed very edgy and were being exposed at the back. Stu Hemingway had West End's first attempt of the game but KRUF's Goalkeeper denied him after a great tip around the post. The resulting corner was blasted over the crossbar by Matthew Ellis. After last weeks hammering at FC Carmarthen, KRUF were looking for a much improved performance and after 25 minutes they went ahead when their Striker turned in from a corner. West End looked on in disbelief as their 100% record looked to be under threat. Soon after KRUF went on another attack and could have doubled their lead but for great defending by Steve Preece. Ben Jones remained in goal for the greens after last weeks great display against Penllergaer and he also had a part to play in keeping the KRUF lead to just the one goal. Curtis Evans had a goal disallowed just before the break. Half Time 1-0 KRUF.
The second half seen the introduction of Lloyd Weston who began to pull the strings in Midfield as he and Glyn Lloyd started to get the ball down and play. Nathan Lewis and Matthew Ellis continued to use their pace down the flanks as they terrorised the KRUF full backs. After an hour it was still 1-0 to KRUF as West End decided to revert back to their trusted 4-4-2 formation. It had an immediate impact as Matthew Ellis' cross was turned in by the prolific Stu Hemingway. One minute later West End were in front as Glyn Lloyd headed in Nathan Lewis' corner. KRUF looked depleated and threw caution to the wind as they moved a Midfielder into attack to give them an extra man up front. West End took advantage of this as Lloyd Weston released Stu Hemingway who made it 3-1. Shortly after Lloyd Weston nodded in Stu Hemingways cross and Stu bagged his hat Trick towards the end after a fantastic solo run.
Not the best first half performance to date but West End showed enough quality in the second half to breeze past a well organised KRUF team. No fixture next Saturday for the greens but a trip to Richmond Park looms on the 29th September as Carmarthen Town United are the hosts. Five out of five now for West End!
