First Team V Bancffosfelen
Dyfrig to the Double

With two wins from two, West End welcomed Bancffosfelen to Penygaer who were looking to make a scalp on the league leaders. It was a scrappy encouter from the off as both teams tried to hold their own in the middle of the park. There were some meaty challenges from both sets of players but after 15 minutes West Ends Lloyd Weston was the victim of a high elbow which seen him leave the field to be replaced by debutant Nathan Lewis.

Both teams had chances to break the deadlock but the defending by both sides was very tight knitted. Stuart Hemingway came close at the end of the first half only to be denied by some more great defending by Bancffosfelen. Half Time score 0-0.

The second half began fiercly contested as the midfield battle was evident to see. Robert Griffiths and Jack Sutcliffe were putting in a good shift for their team.

But it was Bancffosfelen who finally broke the deadlock as a goalmouth scramble lead to their Striker clattering the ball in from close range.

The game looked like it would end with the single goal but Substitute Dyfrig Frater had other ideas. Dyfrig replaced Leon Goddard after 70 mins and had an instant impact as he beat two defenders, made the keeper rush out only for Dyfrig to pass the ball into the net from a near impossible angle, 1-1.

Bancffosfelen did try and push for a second but the West End defence remained solid and with just 3 minutes left Bancffosfelen conceeded a corner. Nathan Lewis whipped in a delightful cross for the onrushing Dyfrig Frater who headed in to conclude a great comeback by West End.

Bancffosfelen then threw everything but the kitchen sink at West End for the last few minutes but the mighty greens held on for a massive three points which now secures their lead at the top of Division two and remain the only team in the division with a 100% record.

Penllergaer visit Penygaer Tuesday night which promises to be another enthralling encounter.
